Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Unlike Liposculpture, which removes fat, this operation involves removal of skin and fat, with tightening of muscles. For this reason, it is more extensive than Liposculpture. The actual extent of surgery will depend on the amount of excess skin and the laxity of the abdominal muscles.
Standard Abdominoplasty as well as Avelar lipoabdominoplasty are both comfortably carried out under local tumescent anesthesia with intravenous sedation. The incision is made in the bikini line. Fat is removed by liposuction, the excess skin is removed. Your umbilicus (belly button) may need to be repositioned with your tummy tuck procedure. The abdominal wall muscles are tightened as required, the skin is carefully redraped and the incision closed with absorbable sutures.
