VaginoplastyWith age and the intense stress of childbirth, many women experience weakening of the muscles in the vagina. Looser muscles in the area result in sexual intercourse that is often unfulfilling as the pleasure arising from friction is noticeably reduced. Rather than commit to an odd and futile exercise regiment, put the passion back into your sex life with vaginal tightening surgery, also known as vaginoplasty, vaginal enhancement, vaginal reconstruction, and vaginal rejuvenation.
The patient is normally placed under a local anesthetic with sedation. Vaginal reconstruction typically takes about an hour, but may take a little longer depending on whether the surgery is performed simultaneously with another type of genital refinement procedure, such as labiaplasty (surgical reduction of the labia minora) or enhancement or reduction of the labia majora. Vaginal reconstruction incisions are made in the genital area to reapproximate loose muscles and fascia deep in the back of the vagina and at the vaginal opening, thereby tightening the vagina by reducing it's diameter and restoring muscle tone. Once this is complete, the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures, resulting in minimal or no scarring. The vaginal reconstruction procedure poses typical risks related to any operation, such as bleeding, scarring, allergic reactions to the anesthetic used, and infection. The patient’s health and adequate preparation before the procedure will significantly reduce the chance of complications.
After the surgery swelling will occur which will subside as the area heals. Some pain and discomfort will exist, generally lasting for about a week. Medications to relieve the pain and discomfort will be prescribed along with an antibiotic to decrease the risk of infection. Most patients are on their feet walking around comfortably just a few days after the procedure and typically return to work within a week. To facilitate healing, patients need to refrain from sexual intercourse for 6 weeks following vaginoplasty. Any penetration of the vagina must be avoided, including douching, tampon use and tub baths. You will also need to avoid strenuous activities while you heal. Recovery from vaginal tightening surgery will take about six weeks. After you heal, you and your partner will be able to feel the difference and experience a renewal of sexual pleasure and a dramatic increase in sensation from intercourse, achieving a level of sexual gratification that was lacking before.
